Records department, Jessica speaking — what can I do for you?
Hey Jessica, my name is Margot, I'm with Atlas reaching out on behalf of Reyes and Sterling LLP. We've got a subpoena in place for a patient named Wei Wright, date of birth April 2nd, 2002, and I'm just checking in to see where things are at with that request.
Sure, give me a moment to look that up. Can you tell me the case name and the date-of-service range you're requesting?
Absolutely — the case is Wright versus Vandermeer Retail Group, and we're asking for the complete treatment records covering the full period specified in the subpoena.
I do see the request here, but our compliance team has raised a flag on it — they need a signed HIPAA authorization before anything can go out, and it's also showing that the requesting attorney wasn't pre-noticed as required.
I hear you. The subpoena duces tecum we served was put together in line with Code of Civil Procedure section 1985.3 — the consumer notice went out along with it. I'm happy to resend the proof of service and a freshly re-noticed authorization today if that's what it takes to lift the compliance hold.
Yes, if you get me the re-noticed authorization and a copy of the proof of service, I should be able to move it forward. Send those over and I'll personally walk them down to compliance.
Great — you'll have everything within the hour. Once compliance gives the green light, what's a realistic turnaround on the actual records?
If compliance clears it tomorrow, I'd say you're looking at Friday for the records going out.
